In a significant leadership transition, Karthik Narain has officially taken the helm as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Accenture, effective September 1, 2024.

His appointment follows the retirement of Paul Daugherty, a stalwart who dedicated nearly four decades to shaping Accenture’s technological landscape.

Currently, Karthik Narain is Accenture’s Group Chief Executive of Technology and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and is a member of the company’s Global Management Committee.

Karthik’s dual role underscores his pivotal position in driving the company’s technology strategy and innovation.

Accenture Group Chief Executive – Technology and CTO

As Group Chief Executive – Technology, Karthik already demonstrated his ability to steer Accenture’s technology business. Now, as CTO, he assumes an even more critical role. Let’s explore the facets of his mandate:

He oversees all aspects of Accenture’s technology strategy. His purview spans cloud, data & AI, enterprise & industry technologies, and security.

Additionally, he chairs the board of Avanade, Accenture’s joint venture with Microsoft. His vision will shape how Accenture harnesses emerging technologies to drive client success.

Karthik’s recent contributions include defining Accenture’s approach to generative AI.

Investments in the Center for Advanced AI, ecosystem partnerships, and a robust data & AI strategy position Accenture at the forefront of innovation.

Karthik actively sponsors the Technology Women’s Executive Leadership program, advocating for gender diversity and inclusion within Accenture’s technology ranks.

The Formative Years

Karthik’s career trajectory includes significant stints at HCLTech and Infosys. From 2005 to 2015, he served as Vice President and Vertical Head for High Tech, including Software & Platforms, at HCLTech.

His leadership during this period contributed to the company’s growth and innovation. At Infosys, he honed his skills further, navigating the dynamic landscape of global technology services.

Leadership Transition at Accenture

Paul Daugherty, a tech luminary, bids adieu after an illustrious 38-year journey with Accenture.

From cobbling together Cobol code in 1986 to witnessing the rise of modern programming languages, Paul’s impact reverberates across the company.

His tenure spanned eras of digital transformation, cloud adoption, and the emergence of artificial intelligence.

In a heartfelt farewell post, Paul reflected on the evolution of technology and the unwavering commitment of Accenture’s workforce. His legacy as a “brilliant tech visionary” will resonate for years to come.

Karthik steps into Paul’s shoes, bringing with him a wealth of experience.

Before assuming the CTO role, he served as Group Executive – Technology at Accenture, where he played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s technology vision.

But Karthik’s journey extends beyond Accenture’s walls.
