HAL Appoints M G Balasubrahmanya as Director – HR

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has appointed M G Balasubrahmanya as its new Director – Human Resources, marking a significant leadership transition within the organization.

With over 35 years of experience at HAL, Balasubrahmanya has played a pivotal role in shaping HR strategies, focusing on talent acquisition, employee engagement, skill development, and process automation.

His appointment comes at a time when HAL is expanding its workforce and strengthening its HR policies to align with India’s growing aerospace and defense sector.

Strategic HR Focus at HAL

As Director – HR, Balasubrahmanya is expected to drive key HR initiatives, ensuring that HAL remains competitive in the aerospace industry.

His leadership will focus on:

  • Strengthening industrial relations to foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Enhancing training and skill development programs for HAL employees.
  • Aligning HR policies with HAL’s business objectives and operational challenges.
  • Expanding corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives to support community development.

His appointment has been approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), reinforcing HAL’s commitment to strong leadership and workforce development.

Leadership Journey and Expertise

Balasubrahmanya began his career at HAL in 1989 as a Management Trainee (Personnel) and has since held various leadership roles within the company.

Prior to his elevation, he served as Executive Director – HR at HAL’s Corporate Office, where he was responsible for:

  • Attracting and retaining top talent in aerospace and defense.
  • Fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
  • Enhancing employee engagement and productivity through strategic HR interventions.
  • Implementing process automation to streamline HR operations.

His academic credentials include a Master’s degree in Social Work (Personnel Management and Industrial Relations) from Mangalore University and a Law degree from Osmania University.

He is also a certified Internal Assessor for Competency Assessment, reflecting his commitment to HR excellence and professional development.
