Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has appointed Janardhan Santhanam as Chief Information Officer (CIO), effective July 1, 2025.

With over 25 years at TCS, Santhanam brings deep institutional knowledge and strategic expertise at a time when the company is making significant strides toward becoming an AI-first enterprise.

Reporting to Chief Operating Officer Aarthi Subramanian, he will be responsible for driving internal IT alignment with the company’s broader business objectives.

He will focus on accelerating transformation through cloud technologies, data platforms, enterprise security, and AI-powered systems.

Track Record in Learning and Development Transformation

Before his CIO appointment, Santhanam served as Vice President and Chief Learning Officer at TCS. In this role, he led enterprise-wide skilling initiatives for more than 570,000 employees, championing AI-powered learning models.

One of his hallmark contributions was designing and implementing the award-winning “Xplore” program—an innovative, digital-first induction model that redefined the onboarding experience.

This model reduced induction time from 10 months to just four and helped build over 30 digital competencies while delivering significant cost efficiencies across campuses.

Strategic Vision for an AI-First Enterprise

Santhanam assumes the CIO role at a critical juncture—TCS recently reported ₹255,342 crore (approximately $30 billion) in revenue for FY25 and is preparing for its Q1 FY26 earnings.

His appointment signals TCS ongoing leadership realignment to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving digital economy. His mandate includes driving operational excellence while fostering a culture that embraces continuous learning, agility, and innovation.

His leadership is expected to further TCS’s mission of harmonizing culture, digital strategy, and business transformation.

Engineering Excellence Meets Digital Leadership

An alumnus of IIT Delhi, Santhanam holds a master’s degree in Industrial Engineering and is known for his data-driven decision-making. His unique ability to bridge technical depth with organizational leadership makes him a strong fit for the CIO role.

As TCS sets its sights on scaling next-generation technologies, Santhanam’s blend of experience, analytical rigor, and passion for digital analytics is poised to help the company remain at the forefront of global technology innovation.

Santhanam’s elevation signals a forward-thinking move by TCS, positioning it to lead with confidence in the AI-powered future.
