Ashok Vaswani takes charge as Kotak Mahindra Bank MD, CEO

An Indian banking and financial services company, Kotak Mahindra Bank has welcomed veteran banker Mr. Ashok Vaswani as the managing director (MD) and CEO of the bank. He replaced Dipak Gupta who was the interim MD and CEO.

“Ashok Vaswani has assumed the office as the Managing Director & CEO of the Bank, with effect from January 1, 2024,” Kotak Mahindra Bank said in a regulatory filing.

Ashok Vaswani holds over three decades of experience. His earlier stints include working with Pagaya, Barclays, Citi Bank, and AF Ferguson.

He holds his graduation from the Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics (Bombay University) with a Bachelor of Commerce, Economics, and Accountancy.

Kotak Mahindra Bank Appoints C S Rajan, as Part-Time Chairman

Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited (‘Kotak’ or ‘the Bank’) has announced that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved the appointment of Mr. C S Rajan, Independent Director of the Bank, as the Part-time Chairman, for two years, effective 1st January 2024.

His appointment as the next Part-time Chairman of the Bank’s Board follows the retirement of the incumbent Part-time Chairman, Mr Prakash Apte, whose term expires on 31st December 2023.

C S Rajan is a successful leader with over 40 years of experience across significant government portfolios. He was appointed as an Independent Director on the Board of the Bank, with effect from 22nd October 2022.

An IAS officer of the 1978 batch, he retired as Chief Secretary of the Government of Rajasthan in the year 2016.

C S Rajan said, “I am deeply humbled and honoured to accept the appointment as Chairman of the Bank and thank the Board for entrusting me with the responsibility to steer the Bank to new heights and increase stakeholder value. I look forward to working collaboratively with the Board and the entire Team.”
