OpenAI ropes in Shivakumar Venkataraman as VP from Google

An AI research and deployment company, OpenAI has appointed Shivakumar Venkataraman as its new Vice President (VP).

Shivakumar is an experienced professional with a demonstrated history of building, scaling, and growing platforms and businesses in the Internet, advertising, mobile, technology infrastructure, ML, and AI space.

He has strong engineering and product, professionally skilled in Scalability, Enterprise AI, Machine Learning, AI, Agile Methodologies, and Databases.

Before joining at the new role at OpenAI, he spent nearly 21 years at Google, holding various leadership positions. His final role was VP/GM at Google Labs.

His earlier stints include working with Required Technologies Inc., PeopleSoft, Cohera, and IBM.

He holds his PhD in Computer Science from University of Wisconsin-Madison and completed his Bachelor of Technology from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.
