Apollo Tyres Ltd has appointed R Mahalakshmi as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), effective right away.

With nearly 30 years of experience, she brings a strong background in managing people and teams across India, Africa, the UK, and Southeast Asia.

She has worked in different business settings, helping companies improve how they manage their people.

As a key member of Apollo Tyres’ Global Executive Committee (ExCom), Mahalakshmi will shape and drive the company’s global people strategy in alignment with its growth ambitions.

She will spearhead initiatives to maximise organisational effectiveness, refresh and evolve people policies, and strengthen the company’s people-first agile growth culture.

Background in HR Across Industries

Before joining Apollo Tyres, Mahalakshmi held senior HR roles in well-known consulting firms and global businesses in telecom, pharmaceuticals, and consumer goods.

Most recently, she worked at Mondelez International, where she was Head of HR for Southeast Asia and earlier served as CHRO for India.

In those roles, she managed HR across six countries and ten factories. Her work included helping with business changes, developing leadership plans, and building a stronger workplace.

Focus on People and Growth

Neeraj Kanwar, Vice Chairman and MD of Apollo Tyres, said, “Mahalakshmi brings deep HR knowledge and a clear focus on people. Her experience will help us build stronger teams, improve how we work, and move forward with our growth goals.”

Speaking about her new role, Mahalakshmi said, “I’m glad to be joining Apollo Tyres at such a strong time for the company. What stood out to me was its clear purpose, strong work culture, and growth plans. I look forward to working with teams across the world to keep building on that.”

She will be based at the company’s head office in Gurugram, India, and will report to Neeraj Kanwar.
