Cognizant criticized for low salary hikes, Inaugurates new office

Cognizant Technology Solutions is under scrutiny for offering meager salary hikes to its employees, following a four-month delay in the rollout.

According to sources, the increments range from as low as 1% to a maximum of 5%, depending on employee performance ratings.

Those with a rating of 3 have reportedly received a hike between 1% and 3%, while employees with ratings of 4 and 5 were granted increases of around 4% to 5%.

This stands in stark contrast to the previous year’s salary hikes, which ranged between 7% and 11%.

Freshers Offered Decadal-Low Pay Packages

The discontent surrounding salary increments coincides with the company’s decision to offer freshers decadal-low starting salaries of Rs 2.52 lakh per annum, equating to roughly Rs 21,000 per month.

This low starting pay has sparked widespread criticism on social media platforms, with many questioning the company’s commitment to fair compensation, especially for entry-level employees.

The off-campus recruitment drive that began on Wednesday has further fueled these concerns.

Impact on Employee Morale and Public Perception

The combination of minimal salary hikes and low starting salaries for freshers is likely to impact employee morale and the company’s public image.

Cognizant, a global technology services giant, has faced growing criticism for these decisions, which could have long-term implications for its ability to attract and retain talent.

The company’s reputation as an employer of choice is now under threat as it navigates this period of heightened scrutiny.

Cognizant Inaugurates New Office

Cognizant, a leading global IT services firm, recently expanded its presence in India by launching its first center in Madhya Pradesh.

This new facility, located in Indore and covering 46,000 square feet, marks a significant step in the company’s growth in the region. The center was officially inaugurated by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.

During the inauguration ceremony, the Chief Minister highlighted the importance of intellectual property in the 21st century, emphasizing that advancements in information technology and artificial intelligence (AI) will drive global influence and innovation.

This new center is expected to contribute to Cognizant’s capabilities in these cutting-edge technologies, further solidifying India’s role in the global IT landscape.
