Nissan India pledges Rs 6.5 crore for Covid-19 pandemic

Automaker, Nissan Motor India has pledged Rs 6.5 crore to fight against the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic in the country. The company will be using the total relief fund in various sections and help improve the health care system in the country.

According to the company statement, out of the total covid relief fund, Rs 2.2 crore contributed to the Tamil Nadu State Disaster Relief Fund, Rs 25 lakh donated to the Tamil Nadu CM Relief Fund, and over Rs 4.3 crore to be used for COVID-19 relief equipment, masks, and PPE kits, among others.

Rakesh Srivastava, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India said, “Safety and well-being of the society, customers, partners, and employees is paramount. Towards this, multiple initiatives are being taken with the government authorities and NGOs towards ensuring the same.”

The company has also donated 400 oxygen concentrators to hospitals and NGOs in Delhi NCR & Tamil Nadu (Chennai, Cuddalore & Mayiladuthurai).

Additionally, Renault Nissan Automotive India Private Limited (RNAIPL) partners with World Community Service Centre to distribute cooked food packets to migrant workers and the needy during the lockdown period.

Commenting on the initiatives, RNAIPL Managing Director Biju Balendran said, “We continue to take all the necessary steps to safeguard their well-being by closely and strictly monitoring the adherence to all local government guidelines on health and safety parameters. In addition to this, are committed to meeting their needs through constant CSR outreach in our local communities, with more initiatives to come.” 

Nissan Motor India Private Ltd. (NMIPL) is a 100% subsidiary of Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. Japan. The company was incorporated in 2005 and offers innovative and exciting products across the hatchback, MUV, SUV, and sedan segments in India.

Nissan together with its global alliance partner Renault set up a manufacturing plant and a Research & Development Centre near Chennai. Nissan in India has a portfolio of two brands, Nissan and Datsun.
