ThyssenKrupp offering free Coronavirus self-tests to employees In Germany

ThyssenKrupp has offered its workforce in Germany free coronavirus self-tests, from the beginning of April the group of companies will provide employees at all German locations with an initial set of five antigen self-tests, which can be ordered online for delivery to the employee’s home address. ThyssenKrupp is thus supporting the federal government’s national testing strategy.

CHRO Oliver Burkhard said, “The health of our employees is our top priority. We want to offer our workforce the best possible protection – quickly, pragmatically, and unbureaucratically. The free self-tests are an important part of our strategy for containing the coronavirus pandemic. The expansion of our company’s testing capacities shows that we are taking our social responsibility very seriously and doing everything we can to help.”

Dirk Sievers, Chairman of the Group Works Council of ThyssenKrupp, added, “The offer of self-tests is an important addition to our general health & safety concept, which comprises established testing offers, surgical masks, arrangements for working from home, and rules on hygiene, social distancing and conduct. In general, the new self-tests are aimed at all employees but in particular, at those whose have to come into work regularly for operating reasons.”

ThyssenKrupp will continue to take systematic action to identify infections at an early stage and prevent chains of infection from arising. The self-tests naturally do not absolve people of their responsibility to ensure strict compliance with all company health & safety regulations – even with a negative test result. ThyssenKrupp will continue to monitor the progression of the pandemic very closely going forward and take further measures following assessment of national developments and the internal company situation.
