Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has extended the deadline for linking the Universal Account Number (UAN) with Aadhaar to avail the benefits of the Employment-Linked Incentive (ELI) Scheme.

EPFO has set the new deadline for March 15, 2025, giving subscribers additional time to complete the mandatory linkage.

This ensures they can access the scheme’s benefits without any last-minute hassles.

The Union Budget 2024-25 introduced the ELI Scheme. The scheme facilitates job creation and provides incentives to both employers and employees.

The scheme aims to create over 2 crore jobs in the country within two years, thereby increasing employment opportunities and enhancing livelihoods.

To avail the benefits of the ELI Scheme, employees must activate their UAN and link it with their Aadhaar and bank accounts.

Details of the Announcement by EPFO

The EPFO has extended the deadline for UAN-Aadhaar linking multiple times, with the previous deadline set for February 15, 2025.

The Ministry of Labour & Employment issued a circular on February 21, 2025. This circular announced the latest extension to March 15, 2025.

This extension provides subscribers with an additional month to complete the necessary linkage.

The EPFO assigns a 12-digit UAN to every member.

It serves as an umbrella for multiple Member IDs. This allows individuals to track their EPF accumulations seamlessly, even if they change jobs.

A KYC-verified UAN empowers members to access various online services directly, eliminating the need for employer intervention.

Steps to Link UAN with Aadhaar

Subscribers can link their UAN with Aadhaar through the EPFO Member Portal or the UMANG app. The process involves the following steps:

  1. Log in to the EPFO Member Portal.
  2. Click on the “KYC” option in the “Manage” section.
  3. Select the details (PAN, Bank Account, Aadhaar, etc.) to link with UAN.
  4. Fill in the requisite fields and click on the “Save” option.
  5. The request will be displayed in “KYC Pending for Approval.”
  6. Once the employer approves the details, the message will change to “Digitally approved by the employer.”
  7. Upon UIDAI confirmation, “Verified by UIDAI” will be displayed against the Aadhaar.
