Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has directed officials of Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) to enhance the claim settlement process and ensure timely grievance redressal.

This directive was issued during a virtual review meeting aimed at evaluating the performance of EPFO’s regional offices.

The review meeting, held on January 24, 2025, was attended by Union Labour Secretary Sumita Dawra, EPFO Central Provident Commissioner Ramesh Krishnamurthi, and senior officers from the ministry and 21 zonal and 140 regional offices of EPFO.

Mansukh emphasized the need for a public-friendly approach and highlighted the importance of the Pension on Higher Wages (PoHW) scheme and grievance redressal.

EPFO: Key Directives and Recent Initiatives

Mansukh instructed EPFO officials to expedite the disposal of PoHW cases by strictly adhering to recent clarifications issued by EPFO.

He also stressed the necessity of completing preparatory work for the Employment-Linked Incentive (ELI) Scheme to ensure its successful implementation.

Additionally, he directed senior officials to visit field offices to review work and prepare improvement plans.

Sumita briefed the minister about recent initiatives undertaken by EPFO to improve service delivery, including simplifying the joint declaration process, eliminating the requirement for employer involvement in PF account transfers, and removing the need to upload cheque leaves for claim settlements.

These efforts aim to enhance service delivery and reduce claim rejections.

Performance Evaluation and Future Scope

Ramesh presented a detailed report on the performance of EPFO’s zonal offices, highlighting areas of improvement. He also shared plans for enhanced service delivery.

Officers in charge of zonal offices shared their experiences and action plans with the Union Minister.

Mansukh stressed that zones and regional offices lagging in performance must focus on improving service delivery.

He emphasized the need for effective implementation, accountability, and good governance.

The minister encouraged EPFO to elevate its service quality and efficiency, thereby enhancing ease of living and transparency for members.

EPFO officials will assess progress at the next review meeting, scheduled for February 2025.

Mansukh urged officers to administer services with integrity and empathy for members to ensure the organization enhances its work culture.
