As India’s largest e-commerce event, The Big Billion Days (TBBD) 2025, approaches, Flipkart has announced the creation of over 2.2 lakh seasonal job opportunities across its supply chain, logistics, and last-mile delivery operations.

The hiring drive is part of the company’s broader festive preparedness strategy, aimed at scaling operations to meet the surge in consumer demand during the shopping festival.

The roles include pickers, packers, sorters, warehouse staff, and delivery executives.

According to Flipkart, 15% of these new hires are first-time workforce entrants, reflecting the company’s push toward broader employment creation and skill development.

Focus on Inclusivity at Flipkart and Regional Reach

This year’s hiring strategy places a strong emphasis on inclusive employment. Flipkart has reported a 10% rise in the hiring of women across its festive workforce.

It has also expanded employment opportunities for persons with disabilities (PwDs) and individuals from the LGBTQIA+ community.

These efforts are part of Flipkart’s commitment to building a diverse and equitable workforce across its operational ecosystem.

The company is also expanding its last-mile delivery infrastructure by opening 650 new festive-only delivery hubs in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, including locations such as Siliguri, Kundli, and Jakhar.

This expansion is expected to improve delivery speed and service coverage, especially in underserved regions.

Technology-Driven Logistics at Flipkart and Training Initiatives

Flipkart’s festive readiness is backed by significant investments in technology.

The company is deploying AI-powered demand forecasting, automated sorting systems, and predictive inventory planning tools to enhance supply chain accuracy and efficiency.

These systems are designed to handle high-volume transactions and ensure timely deliveries during the peak shopping period.

In parallel, Flipkart is investing in long-term skill development through its Supply Chain Operations Academy (SCOA).

Thousands of candidates have already been trained in logistics operations, and the company plans to upskill an additional 10,000 associates by the end of 2025.

Over 6,000 students pursuing graduation have also received blended training in supply chain management, combining digital modules with classroom sessions.

Industry Context and Competitive Landscape

Flipkart’s hiring surge comes amid intense competition in the e-commerce sector.

The seasonal hiring drive is expected to support Flipkart’s business objectives during the festive period.

It will also help generate short-term employment across urban and semi-urban regions in India.

Both companies are ramping up operations to capture consumer attention during the festive season, which typically sees record-breaking sales volumes.

Flipkart’s Chief Human Resources Officer, Seema Nair, emphasized the company’s ecosystem-first approach: “The Big Billion Days is a celebration of scale, speed, and shared progress.

She added, “We are focused on creating lasting value for the communities and partners who power our network and daily deliveries”.

Outlook for Flipkat Festive Season 2025

Flipkart is expanding its workforce, promoting inclusive hiring, and deploying tech-enabled logistics to strengthen its festive operations.

These efforts are aimed at managing what is expected to be one of its busiest shopping seasons to date.

The company’s strategy highlights a rising trend in the Indian e-commerce sector to link social impact with business operations.

This approach is especially evident during periods of high consumer demand.

The seasonal hiring drive is expected to support Flipkart’s business objectives during the festive period.

It will also help generate short-term employment across urban and semi-urban regions in India.
