According to PTI, the demand for freshers has gone up 5 per cent over the past six months, aided by a gradual improvement in the IT sector, according to a report released on Thursday.

Additionally, it revealed that the demand for freshers has increased by 5 per cent over the last six months.

HCLTECH Freshers Hiring

HCLTech added around 12,141 freshers in FY24 and the company plans to onboard 10,000+ freshers in FY2025, while peers like Wipro and Infosys avoid campus hiring due to uncertain demand.

Ramachandran Sundararajan, Chief People Officer of HCLTech, announced at the Q4 earnings conference that for FY25, the company plans to onboard over 10,000 freshers. The recent off-campus cycle contributed over 10%, with current campus offers covering 15% and further cycles planned. They are well-prepared to meet this target.

In Q4 FY24, HCLTech added 3,096 freshers, bringing its total headcount to 227,481. The company saw a net increase of 1,537 employees year-over-year in FY24.

TCS Freshers Hiring

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India’s largest software exporter, plans to hire approximately 40,000 freshers in FY2025, matching last year’s numbers, according to CEO and MD K Krithivasan.

Explaining the divergence between slowing headcount despite a strong deal pipeline and steady revenue growth, TCS CEO and MD K Krithivasan said, “We look at the trainees we deploy, put them through our internal training mechanisms, and after 6 to 8 months, they become productive and billable. So, there will always be a lag.”

He added, “In FY25, we will be hiring a very similar number of freshers as we did the year before.” TCS aims to hire around 40,000 freshers in FY2025, maintaining the same level as last year.

Regarding experienced professionals, TCS CEO K Krithivasan stated that hiring decisions will be made quarterly, based on immediate demand and requirements.

In FY25, both HCLTech and TCS are gearing up to significantly boost their fresher intake amidst increasing demand. The emphasis on fresh talent shows their strategic approach to bolstering capabilities and meeting evolving client needs.

These initiatives not only reflect confidence in future growth but also highlight the critical role of young talent in driving innovation and sustaining competitiveness in the dynamic IT services landscape.
