One of India’s premier banks providing a wide range of financial products and services, HDFC Bank has announced that it will be opening 207 branches and 80 smart banking lobbies in Maharashtra in FY23.

According to the latest move, the bank is planning to hire more than 3,000 employees across the state. The new branches will cover all 34 districts. The smart banking lobbies will be located in 16 districts.

These districts include Ahmednagar, Akola, Amravati, Aurangabad, Dhule, Jalgaon, Mumbai, Nagpur, Nandurbar, Nashik, Navi Mumbai, Pune, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Thane, and Wardha.

Abhishek Deshmukh, branch banking head–Maharashtra, HDFC Bank said, “With the expansion plan, our presence will increase further, and it will also generate employment for over 3,000 people.”

“HDFC Bank is committed to the growth of Maharashtra and a testimony of the Bank’s commitment is that the Bank’s Credit to Deposit Ratio is over 100% in 29 districts of the state”, Abhishek Deshmukh added.

Furthermore, HDFC Bank’s 90 branches will be located in metro and urban areas. The bank has informed that the remaining 117 are in semi-urban and rural areas.

The smart banking lobbies, which are aimed at those customers who are digital-savvy, will be set up in 16 districts and will be operational 24 hours and 7 days, HDFC Bank said.

The smart centres will provide services such as digital onboarding for setting up savings accounts, changing addresses, and chequebook requests.

HDFC Bank today is a front runner in the digital banking space. It has established itself as a full-service digital bank, with the launch of its ‘Go Digital – Bank Aapki Muthhi Mein’ campaign on the banks of Varanasi.

Since then, the bank has launched a slew of innovative products including the 10-second Personal Loan or payment apps like Payzapp, which place the power of banking in the hands of the customer.

HDFC Bank is also taking its branch network deeper into the hinterland, with 53% of its branches located in rural and semi-urban areas.
