India’s job market is undergoing a significant transformation, with southern cities maintaining their dominance in hiring while western and northern hubs emerge as strong contenders.

According to TeamLease Staffing’s Employment Outlook Report for H1 FY25–26, the top five hiring destinations are evolving rapidly, driven by shifting talent demands and region-specific strengths.

The report, which covers 20 major cities, highlights growth patterns across metros and Tier-2 cities, reflecting the changing dynamics of India’s employment landscape.

Bengaluru: India’s Leading Hiring Hub

Bengaluru continues to be the top hiring destination, with 57.4% of employers identifying it as their preferred city for recruitment.

The city remains India’s tech capital, with sustained demand for roles in:

  • Cloud computing
  • GenAI integration
  • Platform engineering
  • Global Capability Centers (GCC) operations

Key industries driving Bengaluru’s hiring growth include BFSI, healthcare, and SaaS, reinforcing its position as a technology powerhouse.

Chennai: A Dual-Sector Magnet

Chennai ranks second, with 53.7% of employers planning to hire.

The city is emerging as a dual-sector hub, attracting talent in both engineering and financial services.

Employers cite several factors contributing to Chennai’s hiring boom:

  • Favorable real estate costs
  • Stable attrition rates
  • Strategic proximity to industrial corridors

These advantages are fueling the expansion of regional delivery hubs, making Chennai a key player in India’s employment landscape.

Hyderabad: A Rising Tech Talent Hub

Hyderabad, with 51.3% of employers looking to hire, is leveraging its deep STEM talent pool and proactive state policies to drive employment growth.

The city’s hiring surge is led by:

  • Life sciences GCCs
  • Cybersecurity roles
  • Enterprise automation

Hyderabad is positioning itself as a strong challenger to Bengaluru, reinforcing its status as a leading tech talent hub.

Pune: A Strategic Choice for Hiring Specialized Talent

Pune ranks fourth, with 47.4% of employers planning to hire.

The city remains a strategic choice for companies seeking a mix of mid-tier digital tech talent and specialized skills in:

  • Automotive engineering
  • Industrial design
  • Embedded systems

Employers highlight connectivity and lower hiring costs as key advantages, attracting both large corporations and startups to Pune’s growing job market.

Jaipur: The Rise of Tier-2 Cities

Jaipur enters the top five hiring destinations, with 43.7% of employers planning to recruit talent.

This reflects a broader trend toward Tier-2 cities, where companies are seeking professionals for:

  • Customer success roles
  • Digital back-office operations
  • Gig-based operational support

Jaipur’s growth is fueled by government skilling schemes and a lower cost of living, making it an attractive hiring destination for businesses expanding beyond metro cities.
