Mercedes-Benz R&D India to hire over 1,000 engineers

A German luxury and commercial vehicle automotive brand, Mercedes-Benz R&D India plans to hire over 1,000 engineers.

Mercedes-Benz R&D India will be hiring people that are equipped with new-age digital skills in the country over the next year. The company has a team of around 7,000 people in its R&D centre in the country.

According to the reports of The Hindu, Santosh Iyer, MD, and CEO at Mercedes-Benz India said, “India was Mercedes-Benz’s fastest-growing market across the globe, with more than 41 percent y-o-y growth.”

“We maintained this sales momentum in Q1 2023, with our best ever Q1 sales clocking 4,697 units,” he added.

He further said, “We will be launching new EVs in the next two years from our global portfolio for the Indian market.”

The year 2022 has been the best year for the company as it achieved the highest sales with 15,822 units. The company also launched its global start-up programme Autobahn in India in 2018.

The program mostly looks into tech and deep tech start-ups within the country that can support automotive engineering. Mercedes-Benz India Pvt. Ltd. was established in 1994 in Pune, India to become the fastest green-field operations ever to be created.

The company is currently rated as one of the top CKD plants of Mercedes-Benz global pioneers in delivering world-class automobile solutions built with intelligent technology and the will to create ‘The Best or Nothing’.
