Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is ramping up its hiring efforts with plans to onboard 40,000 freshers in FY26, signaling a strong focus on future growth.
The company also added 625 employees in Q4 FY25, reversing the declining headcount trend seen in previous quarters.
Over the full fiscal year, TCS increased its workforce by 6,433 employees, taking the total strength to 607,979 as of March 2025, compared to 601,546 in March 2024.
Strategic Hiring Approach
Commenting on the hiring strategy, Milind Lakkad, Chief HR Officer at TCS, said that hiring and demand are linked, but not on a quarterly basis. “You should not compare hiring and demand for every quarter,” he stated.
“We hire people upfront, train them, and then they are deployed on billable assignments in the following quarters.” He added.
This approach highlights TCS’s long-term strategy of building a talent pipeline in anticipation of future demand, ensuring readiness for upcoming client engagements and technology transformations.
