TCS Q3FY25

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) announced a reduction of 5,370 employees in Q3 FY25, bringing its total headcount to 607,354. This decline comes after two consecutive quarters of growth, signaling a challenging phase for India’s largest IT services firm.

Key Highlights

  • Shift in Hiring Trends: Despite adding 5,726 employees in Q2 and significant growth in previous years (22,600 in FY23 and 103,000 in FY22), the latest decline marks a contrast in TCS’s workforce trajectory.
  • Employee Focus Remains: TCS promoted over 25,000 employees this quarter, bringing total promotions for FY25 to more than 110,000. The company reiterated its commitment to upskilling and well-being initiatives.
  • Campus Hiring Commitment: TCS continues its emphasis on hiring fresh talent, planning to onboard more graduates in FY26 and doubling the intake of higher cadre trainees this year.

Despite workforce adjustments, TCS reported a strong financial performance, with a 12% rise in net profit to ₹12,380 crore and a 6% increase in revenue to ₹63,973 crore in Q3 FY25. Attrition rose slightly to 13% from 12.3% in the previous quarter.
