A British Columbia company recently found a female staff wasting time during work from home and fired her without any notice.

Earlier, Covid waves changed the working pattern of companies around the globe from working from the office to Working from home. There have been certain companies that even provided certain benefits to female employees during the Covid waves.

Many organization’s provided work-from-home options to their employees. However, in the last couple of months, companies have shifted from remote to Hybrid or allowing employees to work from the office at least a few days a week.

Recently, a Canadian woman, Karlee Besse, was working as an accountant. She has now been fired by the company for ‘wasting time’ while working remotely. She has been compelled to pay her employer Rs 3 lakh for the same reason.

However, as per the claims of the woman she was sacked without any notice period. She has been asked by her company for paying Rs 3.03 lakh (5,000 Canadian dollars). This was including unpaid wages and severance from her employer.

However, the employer said that she had altered her working hours. The company said that the former employee recorded over 50 hours of working time but she had not spent all her time at work. However, the woman said that the software didn’t correctly identify the difference between her work and personal time.

The employer has tracked the same officially working from home using software called TimeCamp. TimeCamp is a web-based application. This is used to track the activity of computer users.

The application is dedicated either to freelancers or teams. The tool is a time tracking software to invoice the employees’ work based on an hourly rate, measuring work effectiveness and project management.

The firm dismissed the woman’s claims. The company also proved the software’s efficiency. Post this the judge ordered the woman to pay Rs 3 lakh.
