AI can create more jobs than it potentially eliminates: Says Tech Mahindra’s CP Gurnani

In an interview with the media, Tech Mahindra’s CEO CP Gurnani said that AI can create more jobs than it can eliminate.

Tech Mahindra’s CEO CP Gurnani said, “The use cases of Generative AI are still being defined, which means that it has the potential to create more job opportunities in the future.”

“Undoubtedly, the possibilities are just opening, and there is more to come,” CP Gurnani added.

He also urged young engineers to adapt to the changing world and invest more time in independently learning new skills.

“AI did not take away jobs, it created jobs,” he said. 

However, Different company CEOs have different stands over Generative AI replacing humans over jobs. Earlier in this year, IBM CEO Arvind Krishna specified that hiring specifically in back-office functions such as human resources will be suspended or slowed.

The company aspects that 30% of non-customer-facing roles could be replaced by AI and automation in five years.

As per media reports, Infosys Founder Narayana Murthy commented on the fears of artificial intelligence (AI) replacing human beings at workplaces. He said that AI will give humans the space and time to think more creatively and productively, as an “assistive” tool.

The Infosys co-founder added that AI has made life more comfortable and human beings will never let technology replace them.

The CEO of OpenAI Sam Altman said AI has the potential to drastically change society but also has real dangers.

Sam Altman also believes that AI chatbots could “eliminate a lot of current jobs” but also have the potential to be “the greatest technology humanity has yet developed” to improve our lives.
