TCS sent sudden transfer notices after ending WFH policies

As reported by Money Control, IT giant, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) sent sudden transfer notices to its employees after recently ending Work From Home policy and asked asked employees to join the assigned location within 15 days.

On this matter, The IT labour union, Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate, took on social platform X (Formally Twitter) and said, “NITES urges @LabourMinistry to protect IT workers from unethical practices such as forced transfers. We demand an investigation and new policies to safeguard employee rights.”

The company has recently sent transfer notices to over 2,000 employees. These employees are from various locations and they have been asked to join within 15 days at the allocated location.

While explaining the incident, NITES has received more than 180 complaints that TCS has been forcing more than 2000 employees to transfer to different cities.

Earlier, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) ended the hybrid work policy and asked its employees to work from the office 5 days a week from October 1, 2023 onwards. Until October 1, employees were attending the office for three days a week.

The company has ended the hybrid work model in internal communication and said, “As communicated by the CEO and chief human resources officer (CHRO) in various townhalls, it is mandatory for all associates to attend office on all the working days (5 days per week if there are no holidays) starting 1 October 2023.” CNBC-TV18 quoted the official mail to the employees of TCS on Sept 29, 2023.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) workforce stood at 608,985 as of September 30, reported a dip of 6333 employees.

TCS’s employee base continues to be very diverse. In financial results for Q1FY24 the quarter ending June 30, 2023, TCS LTM IT Services attrition rate this quarter is 17.8% with a workforce strength of 615,318.

However, Sightsin Plus has not reached out to TCS for a comment on the same.
