Google has officially announced the opening of its Software Engineering Internship – Summer 2026 across its India offices in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Pune.

Aimed at empowering the next generation of innovators, this 10–12-week internship program offers aspiring software engineers a chance to work on impactful, large-scale tech projects that power Google’s global ecosystem.

Scheduled to begin in May 2026, the Google Summer Internship is a full-time, in-person opportunity for students currently pursuing degrees in computer science and related disciplines.

Interns will gain real-world experience, sharpen their technical skills, and collaborate with some of the brightest minds in the industry.

Minimum Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Computer Science or a closely related technical field.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, C/C++, Python, JavaScript, or Go.
  • Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments.
  • Understanding of software design fundamentals.

Preferred Profile

  • Ideally, in the penultimate year of your degree.
  • Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
  • Interest or experience in areas like mobile development, distributed systems, machine learning, networking, natural language processing (NLP), security, or building large-scale systems.
  • Active involvement in technical projects, open-source contributions, or participation in hackathons and coding competitions.

What to Expect from the Internship

Google Summer Internship is more than just a resume booster—it’s a transformative learning journey. Interns will be assigned to real product teams and work on projects that directly contribute to Google’s products and services.

Key highlights include

  • Hands-on Development: Interns will write production-level code, contribute to feature development, and improve performance and scalability across core systems.
  • Mentorship & Learning: Each intern is paired with a dedicated mentor and will have access to technical workshops, engineering bootcamps, and leadership talks.
  • Collaboration: The experience encourages working in cross-functional teams and learning how software engineering fits into the broader product lifecycle.
  • Culture & Inclusion: Google promotes a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensuring a safe and empowering environment for interns from all backgrounds.

Application Process

Interested candidates need to submit:

  • An updated resume or CV that highlights their academic background, relevant technical experience, and personal projects.
  • A copy of their academic transcript (official or unofficial), preferably in English.

Applications must be submitted through Google’s official careers portal, Google Careers. Although Google hasn’t released a fixed deadline, early applications are encouraged, as positions are filled on a rolling basis.

Why It Matters

Google internships are renowned for their depth, impact, and career-launching potential. Many past interns have gone on to receive full-time offers or use the experience as a springboard to other top-tier opportunities.

From exposure to scalable systems and cutting-edge technologies to building networks with global tech leaders, this program offers an invaluable career foundation.

Bottom Line

If you’re a tech-savvy student in India with a passion for problem-solving and building meaningful products, the Google Summer 2026 internship is a golden opportunity to make your mark.
