Amazon extends corporate work from home policy to 8 January 2021

Like tech majors Facebook and Google, Amazon has also has extended the work-from-home order for its corporate workforce until January 8 next year.

“We continue to prioritize the health of our employees and follow local government guidance. Employees who work in a role that can effectively be done from home are welcome to do so until January 8,” an Amazon spokesperson said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Amazon’s corporate buildings are open and available to all employees,’ Amazon said in a blog post on Wednesday.

Amazon was among the first large employers to authorize remote work when the coronavirus hit the U.S. Earlier in April, Amazon extended its work from home guidance through October 2020.

Earlier, Facebook and Google announced work-from-home policies that extend through 2020. Twitter, on the other hand, gave its employees the option of working from home ‘forever’.

Amazon announced a slew of measures to protect the health of its employees amid COVID-19. However, the e-commerce giant has also faced protests from former and current employees for its COVID-19 policies.
