Amdocs to lay off hundreds of employees worldwide, including senior positions

Israeli telecom systems IT solutions provider Amdocs Ltd is set to lay off hundreds of employees in Israel and around the world due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

According to a report published in Israeli-based website Calcalist, Amdocs’s quarterly earnings is around $1 billion and a huge part of it – nearly $691 million – comes from the US which is currently witnessing a coronavirus resurgence.

Although it has not yet been confirmed as to how many employees would be laid off from which geographic locations, “Amdocs is planning to cut many hundreds of jobs, including senior positions,” the report said.

Amdocs has 4,500 employees in Israel and 25,000 employees worldwide. The company said that it is “continually examining the required adjustments in the structure of our expenses.”

Amdocs said, “As a global group responsible for tens of thousands of employees, Amdocs is continually examining the required adjustments in the structure of our expenses, while strategically looking at the situation of our workforce and adjusting it to changing business needs. This is the right thing to do, especially during this complex and persistent period of uncertainty on global markets. Amdocs continues to hire employees extensively in areas where operations are growing, to invest in engines of growth, and to look after its human capital.”

Earlier in April 2020, Amdocs had laid off 150 employees from its Pune office via a video call without providing much detail, leaving employees helpless. The company faced heavy backlash from authorities, public, and employees’ unions for their act. Later on, after taking cognizance of the situation, based on numerous complaints filed by various employee unions, the Labour Commissioner of Pune had issued a notice to Amdocs management and sought their reply on the matter.

Amdocs is a multinational corporation that was founded in Israel and currently headquartered in Chesterfield, Missouri, with support and development centers located worldwide. The company specializes in software and services for communications, media and financial services providers and digital enterprises
