Facebook Brings Back Job Listings to Support Local Hiring

Meta has officially reintroduced job listings on Facebook, marking the return of a feature that was discontinued in 2022.

The move comes amid growing concerns about the impact of artificial intelligence on entry-level employment and reflects Meta’s renewed focus on community-driven tools that connect users with local opportunities.

Job Listings Return to Facebook Marketplace

On October 13, 2025, Meta announced that job listings would once again be available on Facebook Marketplace, Groups, and Pages.

The feature is currently being rolled out in the United States and is designed to help users find entry-level, trade, and service industry jobs within their local communities. Listings are public and accessible to all users aged 18 and older.

Users can filter job postings by category, distance, and job type. Facebook will also use browsing history and activity data to recommend relevant opportunities.

Once users find a suitable listing, they can apply directly through the platform and initiate conversations with employers via Messenger.

Focus on Local and Small Business Hiring

Meta’s announcement emphasized its commitment to supporting small businesses and local hiring.

Employers can post job openings through their Facebook Page, Group, or directly on Marketplace.

This streamlined process allows businesses to reach potential candidates without relying on external job boards or platforms.

The feature is particularly aimed at helping young adults and recent graduates who may be struggling to find work amid economic uncertainty and technological disruption.

Meta stated that the goal is to make job discovery more accessible and community-oriented.

Responding to AI-Driven Labor Shifts

The return of job listings coincides with broader industry trends, including increased automation and AI adoption.

As companies integrate AI into operations, many entry-level roles are being redefined or phased out.

Meta’s move is seen as a response to these shifts, offering a platform where users can still find human-centered employment opportunities.

While Meta did not provide specific reasons for the initial removal of the feature in 2022, the company now appears to be positioning Facebook as a more versatile tool for everyday needs, including job hunting.

Facebook Job Listing Limited Rollout and Future Expansion

As of now, the job listing feature is only available in the United States.

Meta has not confirmed whether it will expand the service to other countries, including India, which has the largest Facebook user base globally.

Analysts suggest that if the feature gains traction, a broader rollout could follow.

The company is also expected to monitor user engagement and feedback before making further enhancements.

Integration with other Meta platforms, such as Instagram or WhatsApp, has not been announced but remains a possibility.
