Infosys, one of India’s leading IT services companies, has found itself in the spotlight recently due to delays in onboarding fresh engineering graduates from the 2022 batch.

Amidst concerns raised by impacted graduates and the IT union NITES, Infosys CEO Salil Parekh has stepped forward to clarify the situation.

The Situation at Infosys: Delayed Onboarding

Offer Letters Issued: Nearly 2,000 engineering graduates received offer letters from Infosys in 2022. This signaled their entry into the professional world. These bright minds were eagerly awaiting their onboarding process.

Extended Wait: However, these graduates found themselves caught in an unexpected limbo. Having fulfilled all requirements and being issued offer letters as early as April 2022. These graduates faced continuous delays in the onboarding process. Pre-training programs remained unpaid, and additional assessments added to their frustration.

CEO’s Reassurance

Honoring Commitments: Salil Parekh, Infosys’ CEO and Managing Director, has unequivocally stated that every offer made to fresh graduates will be honored. The company remains committed to its promises.

While there have been changes in onboarding dates, Parekh emphasizes that these adjustments do not alter the fundamental commitment. Infosys stands by its word.

He said, “Every offer that we have given, that offer will be someone who will join the company.”

“We changed some dates but beyond that everyone will join Infosys and there is no change in that approach,” Parekh told PTI in response to a question on reported delays in onboarding of 2,000 fresh engineering graduates for two years.

The Significance of Offer from Infosys

Impact on Graduates: For the affected graduates, this delay has been a test of patience and resilience. Many had pinned their hopes on joining Infosys—the gateway to a promising career.

Industry Reputation: Infosys, known for its ethical practices and employee-centric approach, faces scrutiny. The company’s reputation is at stake, and how it handles this situation matters.

NITES’ Complaint

Union Intervention: The Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) filed a complaint with the Ministry of Labour and Employment against Infosys. Their grievance highlighted the prolonged wait faced by these professionals.

Two-Year Limbo: NITES expressed concern that despite fulfilling all requirements, the impacted graduates face agony for more than two years. The union sought clarity and resolution.

NITES said, “These graduates, after being issued offer letters as early as April 2022, have been subjected to continuous delays in the onboarding process, unpaid pre-training programmes, and unexpected additional assessments.”

“Despite fulfilling all requirements on their part, these professionals have been kept in limbo for more than two years…,” NITES added.
