Infosys, a global leader in digital services and consulting, has inaugurated a new Centre for Advanced AI, Cybersecurity, and Space Technology at its Hubballi Development Center in Karnataka.

This move marks a significant milestone in Infosys’ commitment to decentralizing innovation and expanding its footprint in Tier-2 cities.

The centre is part of the company’s global Infosys Living Labs network, which now includes over a dozen innovation hubs worldwide.

The facility was formally inaugurated on August 6, 2025, by Karnataka’s Minister for Large & Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development, M B Patil, and Minister for Electronics, IT & Biotechnology, Priyank Kharge, alongside senior Infosys executives and government officials.

Infosys Focusing on Emerging Technologies

The Hubballi centre will specialize in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, cybersecurity, engineering services, SAP, and space technology.

It is designed to serve clients across diverse sectors including manufacturing, financial services, retail, and healthcare, both in India and globally.

Infosys Executive Vice President Sunil Kumar Dhareshwar emphasized the strategic intent behind the launch: “With state-of-the-art infrastructure and an AI-first approach, this centre will help us address key client needs while driving innovation at scale”.

Boosting Local Employment and Collaboration

The new centre has already pushed Infosys’ local headcount in Hubballi beyond 1,000 employees, creating vital employment opportunities in North Karnataka.

Minister M B Patil praised the expansion, stating that it not only generates high-value jobs but also strengthens industry-academia collaboration, giving local talent access to future-ready domains like AI and cybersecurity.

Infosys has also forged partnerships with regional institutions such as IIIT Dharwad and KLE Tech, aiming to foster innovation and skill development through joint research and training initiatives.

Infosys Hubballi Centre: A Model for Regional Innovation

The Hubballi centre will play a key role in Infosys’ global innovation strategy by supporting co-creation, rapid prototyping, and deployment of digital solutions.

It reflects the company’s long-term vision of inclusive growth, where regional hubs contribute meaningfully to national and global digital transformation efforts.

Minister Priyank Kharge described the launch as a testament to North Karnataka’s emergence as a regional innovation hub, and encouraged Infosys to consider expanding to other districts in the region to further promote balanced development.
