As second wave of COVID-19 subsides and vaccination has picked up the pace, hiring activities of India’s biggest IT firms like: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys, and Wipro are showing signs of revival and started hiring at a rapid pace.

Recently, these IT firms have released their financial results for quarter one of FY22 ending on June 30. The companies are expected to welcome more than 100,000 freshers combined in this fiscal year as per their press release.

  • Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) will be hiring more than 40,000 freshers from campuses in the country in the financial year 2021-22.
  • Infosys plans to hire 35,000 college graduates in the financial year 2021-2022.
  • Wipro to hire 30,000 freshers in the financial year 2021-22.

Paneesh Rao, Chief People Officer, Mindtree said, “We added a net of more than 3,400 Mindtree Minds in Q1 of FY22 and ended the quarter with a global headcount of over 27,000. We expect our intake of both campus and lateral hires to go up in the next few quarters,”

“Given our robust pipeline and order book, hiring is going to be substantially higher in the areas of cloud, data, and security,” he added.

HCL Tech’s Q1 results are yet to come. The company will announce its Q1 results of the financial year 2021-22 on July 19, 2021.

On July 14, Tata Consultancy Services also announced its plan to expand operations in Arizona in the US and invest more than USD 300 million (about Rs 2,236 crore) by 2026. The company will also hire more than 220 employees by 2023. Currently, TCS has more than 780 employees in the state, helping clients in banking, manufacturing, healthcare, and utilities, and manage their IT operations, etc.

India’s biggest IT companies are also working on their plan to call employees back to office. TCS and Wipro are working to get vaccinated all of their employees by September this year and bring at least 20-30% of employees back to office on a regular basis.

However, Infosys has announced to call back employees to office in the next 6 months. Currently, almost 98% TCS, Infosys, and Wipro employees are working from home.
