Hiring platform Hirect sacked 40% of the workforce

A leading job portal in India, Hirect has sacked nearly 200 people which is 40 percent of the total workforce.

Hirect laid off these employees due to organizational restructuring and a strategic change in its business model. The company has become a victim of the slowdown in new hiring.

The Co-founder and CEO of Hirect Raj Das said, “We still have hundreds of employees with us.”

“Clearing dues is our priority. We are doing everything we can to expedite the process and clear all outstanding settlements as soon as possible”, Raj added.

According to Mint, The company employs around 472 people. The company employed around 600 people.

Three employees who have been affected by the latest job cuts at Hirect told Mint that they were asked to quit in mid-October. However, these employees have to receive relieving letters.

One of the employees has shared that the management failed to keep the promise of providing severance pay and job search assistance.

Hirect was founded in 2018 as a direct hiring application. The vision of the company was to virtually connect the skill-oriented workforce with high-growth startups and SMEs has manifested into our service provisions. The company focused specifically on the startup segment.

The company’s philosophy was always been to simplify the hiring process. Hirect offers direct chat and video call features which have enabled over 3M job seekers to connect directly with over 190K recruiters on its platform.

The commitment of the company was to offer a modern and effective solution to the outdated hiring process has allowed recruiters and startups to efficiently improve their hiring process by connecting directly with candidates.

Many Ed-tech startups such as Unacademy, Vedantu, FrontRow, Lido, and Frontrow among others have cumulatively retrenched thousands of employees this year. Many IT companies laid off such as HCL, Twitter, Google, and many more laid off many employees.
