Paytm Employees Complain to Labour Ministry Over Layoffs

According to Moneycontrol, several employees of the fintech platform Paytm have filed a complaint to the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

The complaint alleges that these employees were unlawfully terminated from their positions without being provided with any compensation.

The report shows the serious nature of these allegations, bringing attention to potential issues within the company’s employment practices.

The report also stated that one of the employees who claimed to have been terminated without compensation or justification said, “We are awaiting a response from the Ministry and hope the case will be taken up by them. If not satisfactory, will take the court route.”

Recently in June, One97 Communications, the parent company of Paytm called for layoffs of an undisclosed number of employees as part of its restructuring efforts.

This move aims to improve cost efficiency and streamline operations. The company also committed to provide outplacement support to help the affected employees transition to new job opportunities.

However, One97 Communications Limited (OCL) offers outplacement support to resigned employees as part of the company’s restructuring efforts.

According to media reports, employees have alleged being forced to “voluntarily resign” without prior notice, or severance and joining bonuses.

Recently, the All India Professionals’ Congress (AIPC) has extended its support to the affected employees.

In support, it shared a post on social media platform X (formally Twitter) saying, “AIPC News reports say Paytm has sacked professionals in violation of their contractual obligations. Are you an Ex-Paytm Professional? Were you forced to resign without compensation? All India Professionals’ Congress will fight for your cause. Reach out to us: https://bit.ly/ExPaytm
