SAP SE, the global enterprise software leader, has announced its intent to acquire SmartRecruiters, a prominent talent acquisition (TA) software provider, in a move aimed at bolstering its SuccessFactors Human Capital Management (HCM) suite.

The acquisition, expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025, is subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.

SmartRecruiters, founded in 2010, serves over 4,000 organizations globally, including major enterprises like Amazon, McDonald’s, and Visa.

Its platform is known for AI-powered recruiting tools, high-volume hiring capabilities, and a user-friendly interface that supports end-to-end hiring workflows.

Integration of AI and Automation into SAP’s HR Ecosystem

SAP’s leadership emphasized that the acquisition is not just an HR upgrade but a business priority.

According to Muhammad Alam, Executive Board Member for SAP Product & Engineering, the integration will allow customers to manage the entire candidate lifecycle—from sourcing and interviewing to onboarding—within a single system.

Key benefits outlined by SAP include:

  • AI and automation to assist in candidate sourcing, screening, and personalized engagement
  • Embedded analytics to identify hiring bottlenecks and improve strategic workforce planning
  • Enhanced user experience for recruiters, hiring managers, and candidates

SmartRecruiters’ AI companion, Winston, will continue to operate as part of the platform, offering intelligent support for talent matching and screening.

SAP Acquires SmartRecruiters: Continued Support for Existing Customers

SmartRecruiters CEO Rebecca Carr assured customers that the company will maintain its current leadership, support structure, and commitment to innovation.

The platform will remain available as a standalone solution for the foreseeable future, even as it integrates more deeply with SAP’s ecosystem.

Rebecca stated, “Joining forces with SAP presents a tremendous opportunity for enterprises worldwide to benefit from our industry-leading approach to talent acquisition.”

“We’re excited to build the future of hiring together,” she stated.
