EY India and Microsoft have joined forces to launch the AI Skills Passport, a free online learning initiative aimed at equipping India’s youth with essential artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities.

The program targets individuals aged 16 and above, with a focus on students and early-career professionals.

This collaboration is part of a broader effort to bridge the growing AI skills gap in India and prepare the workforce for a rapidly evolving digital economy.

A Strategic Response to India’s AI Skills Deficit

According to a recent NASSCOM report, only 31 percent of professionals in India feel adequately prepared to use AI tools.

The demand for AI talent is rising sharply across industries, but the supply of skilled professionals has not kept pace.

EY and Microsoft’s AI Skills Passport is designed to address this gap by offering structured, job-ready training in AI fundamentals, responsible AI practices, and real-world applications.

The initiative builds on a global rollout that has already seen over 40,000 enrolments and 13,000 completions.

In India, the program is expected to play a critical role in democratizing access to high-quality AI education.

Program Structure and Learning Outcomes

The program delivers the AI Skills Passport entirely online and offers it free of cost. It includes modules on:

  • Fundamentals of artificial intelligence
  • Responsible and ethical AI practices
  • Applications of AI in sectors such as healthcare, finance, and technology
  • Hands-on projects and case studies
  • Industry-recognized certification upon completion

Learners will apply practical knowledge in real-world settings, which enhances their employability and prepares them for AI-driven roles.

EY and Microsoft Leadership Perspective and Ecosystem Impact

Monesh Dange, Partner and Leader of Alliances and Ecosystems at EY India, emphasized the importance of the initiative in preparing India’s youth for the future of work.

He noted that AI is reshaping industries and career paths, and that equitable access to AI education is essential for inclusive growth.

The collaboration also aligns with Microsoft’s broader mission to empower individuals and organizations through digital skilling.

combining EY’s domain expertise with Microsoft’s technology infrastructure, the program aims to create a scalable and impactful learning ecosystem.
