Emily Hanley lost her job due to ChatGPT. In order to her survival, she started selling water at grocery stores.

According to Business Insider, Emily Hanley-a freelance writer said, “For the past several years I worked as a full-time freelance copywriter; I’d work on webpages, branded blogs, online articles, social-media captions, and email marketing campaigns.”

“I wasn’t raking in the big bucks or living fancy-free aboard a yacht in Capri, but I was comfortable. For the first time, I felt I had a sustainable career”, the post added.

“For the next three months, I steadily applied for content and copywriting positions. With each passing week, I widened the scope of my search, desperation pushing me forward like a stage mom to a shy child”, the post added.

The project kept going down she was offered and kept applying for various jobs. The real reason behind the decline of her freelance work was the rise of AI-powered writing tools, particularly ChatGPT, which became increasingly popular among clients who sought cost-cutting solutions.

She was then hired as a brand ambassador. In other terms, she offers samples of sparkling water at grocery stores.

Earlier, IBM is planning to freeze the hiring for certain positions. The company expects that nearly 7,800 jobs could be replaced by artificial intelligence (AI).

CEO Arvind Krishna has specified that hiring specifically in back-office functions such as human resources will be suspended or slowed. The company aspects that 30% of non-customer-facing roles could be replaced by AI and automation in five years.

Earlier, The CEO of OpenAI Sam Altman said AI has the potential to drastically change society but also has real dangers.

Sam Altman also believes that AI chatbots could “eliminate a lot of current jobs” but also has the potential to be “the greatest technology humanity has yet developed” to improve our lives.

There were earlier reports that suggested that the OpenAI chatbot responded with a list of jobs that it could potentially replace:
