  • HCL Tech- Reduction of 8080 employees
  • LTIMindtree- Reduction of 804 employees
  • Capgemini- Reduction of 300 employees
  • Cognizant- Reduction of 8100 employees

Speaking during a conference call to analysts, Cognizant, CEO Ravi Kumar S emphasized, “The reason why some of that (headcount reduction and tight utilization rate) is explainable is also because AI and automation are starting to be applied to our projects.”

The comments assume significance in the context of broader concerns about job displacement due to AI adoption.

IT Hiring Trends in Comoning Quarters

The above data indicates that while IT companies are expected to hire over the next 2-3 quarters, hiring activity may remain subdued due to the industry’s current slump in demand.

Despite some companies adding employees, overall hiring trends will likely be muted as firms navigate market challenges and adjust their workforce strategies. This cautious approach reflects the industry’s response to fluctuating demand and economic conditions.
