NMDC Launches Fully Sponsored Programs for ST Students

National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC), India’s largest iron ore producer, has unveiled two transformative education initiatives aimed at empowering tribal youth in Chhattisgarh with professional skills for sustainable livelihoods.

As part of its flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, NMDC is offering 100% free education through the Balika Shiksha Yojana and a Medical Technology Program in partnership with Apollo University, Chittoor.

These programs are designed to bridge the opportunity gap for underprivileged communities in some of India’s most remote and underserved districts.

NMDC Balika Shiksha Yojana: Nursing Education for Tribal Girls

Under the Balika Shiksha Yojana, NMDC is offering fully funded nursing education to tribal girls from the districts of Bastar, Dantewada, Sukma, Kondagaon, Bijapur, and Narayanpur.

The initiative provides:

  • 200 seats in total
    • 110 seats for B.Sc. Nursing (4 years)
    • 90 seats for General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM, 3 years)
  • Admission to reputed institutions such as:
  • Complete financial coverage of ₹12–15 lakh per student, including:
    • Tuition fees
    • Hostel accommodation
    • Academic materials and support

Eligibility criteria include a family income cap of ₹72,000 per annum, ensuring the program reaches the most economically disadvantaged.

The application deadline is June 28, 2025.

Medical Technology Program: Allied Healthcare Training for Boys and Girls

In collaboration with Apollo University, Chittoor, NMDC is also offering a fully sponsored Allied Healthcare education program for Scheduled Tribe (ST) students from Dantewada and Bastar.

This initiative includes:

  • 90 seats, with 60% reserved for girls and 40% for boys
  • Specialized B.Sc. programs in:
    • Emergency Medical Technology
    • Medical Lab Technology
    • Anaesthesiology & Operation Theatre Technician
    • Imaging Technology
    • Physician Assistant
    • Renal Dialysis Technology
  • Full sponsorship of ₹12–15 lakh per student
  • Application deadline: June 30, 2025

These programs are designed to equip students with career-ready skills in high-demand healthcare sectors, opening doors to employment and long-term economic stability.
