According to media reports, an Amazon employee, hired in remote role, says lost trust in company after being told to work from office.

The employee, a software development engineer said that Amazon hired him in a remote role. However, the company has suddenly made a U-turn and is asking to work from office.

“I’m being told I need to move to Seattle or switch teams, or I’m out of a job. I moved to this area 13 years ago. I own a house here. My partner has a career here. I’ve built a home here,” the employee informed the media.

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy has asked employees to come work from the office, saying that staff would work on-site at least three days a week and that the situation would likely not “work out” for employees who could not commit to the decision even if they disagreed with it.

However, recently The founder and CEO of Australian software company Atlassian, Scott Farquhar hasn’t mandated its employees to Return to Office.

Founder and CEO of Australian software company Atlassian, Scott Farquhar said, “I work from home all the time.”

“I might come into the office about once a quarter… I still work really hard and I work with the teams who are around the world and Australia”, he added 60 Minutes Australia.

“We expect people to be able to work from their homes, a cafe, from an office… we don’t really care where they do their work”, Atlassian CEO further added.

Earlier, Cognizant said that they are not mandating its employees to return to the office.

“We did express that social capital is important as we have freshers in the mix who will need hand-holding. It won’t be impactful if the managers don’t come to work. We will have a more natural progression of return-to-work,” Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar S said during an earnings call on Thursday.

“Our flexible return to work is actually helping us get in more women to work as opposed to affecting them,” CEO Ravi Kumar added.

Tech major companies including TCS, Accenture, IBM, Google, and Infosys, etc. are calling their employees back to the office and trying to have at least employees work 2-3 days from the office.
