Tech giant, Apple is now cracking down on remote working by tracking employee attendance as the employees are required to report to the office at least three days a week.

Employees are required to be in the office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, with most able to work remotely on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Zoë Schiffer, Managing Editor @platformer, shared a Tweet saying the information saying, “Apple is tracking employee attendance via badge records and will give employees escalating warnings if they don’t come in 3x per week.”

“At Apple, some orgs are saying failure to comply could result in termination, but that doesn’t appear to be a company-wide policy”, the tweet further added.

The company is operating a hybrid policy since April 2022. As a part of the strategy, the company was required to work from the office at least three days per week.

According to a recent report by Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman in which he outlined several cost-cutting measures being newly enacted by Apple, including managers becoming “as strict as ever” about office attendance, with some staff believing it to be a harbinger of Apple firing employees who don’t meet the requirement.

Recently, Apple has rolled back some of its Covid policies as covid cases are getting down and have been very low. Apple has made changes to its Covid-19 policy. The company stopped mandating employees’ tests before coming into the office.

It’s also rolled back its special sick leave policy, which previously allowed for unlimited sick leave for workers experiencing covid symptoms. The new rule and changes to its Covid-19 policy were implemented from Jan 30, 2023.

Recently, Apple Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tim Cook took a 40% pay cut in 2023. The pay cut was based on the balance sheet feedback, Apple’s exceptional performance, and a recommendation. The current salary of Tim Cook was USD 49 million (Rs 3,98,75,71,000) in 2023.

Earlier, Tim Cook earned USD 99.4 million in 2022. The salary package includes USD 3 million in base salary, about USD 83 million in stock awards, and a bonus. In 2021 his previous salary was USD 98.7 million.
