According to Mint, an American multinational information technology services and consulting company, Cognizant has cautioned its employees that failure to comply with the directives to return to the office, despite multiple reminders, may result in termination.

A letter to employees read, “Please note that failure to adhere to the directions will amount to serious misconduct as per company policies, and accordingly appropriate disciplinary action will be initiated against you which may lead up to termination.”

However, SightsIn Plus hasn’t verified the letter. In February, according to media reports, Cognizant in India employees are asked to work from the office thrice a week.

Previously, In an internal memo, Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar S has urged staff to use the in-person time to prioritize activities “that benefit greatly from being together” such as collaborative projects, training, and team building.

Earlier, Ravi Kumar S communicated with employees via email that it is expected to be in the office an average of three days per week, or as defined by their team leader.

Around 255,000 of Cognizant’s 344,400 employees are based in India.

Cognizant total headcount stood at 344,400 during the end of the first quarter, which decreased by 3,300 sequentially from Q4 2023. This headcount decreased by 7,100 from Q1 2023.

On the other end, the voluntary attrition of Tech Services on a trailing twelve-month basis was 13.1% as compared to 23.1% for the period ended March 31, 2023.

Recently, Dell has intended to implement monitoring measures to track employees’ on-site work status. This involves the introduction of badge tracking through a “human capital management software” system.

The company plans to use electronic badge scans. The purpose is to ascertain whether employees are present at on-site offices during work hours.
