An Indian multinational information technology company, Infosys has ended the work from home and asked its employees to come to the office.

This change primarily affects employees categorized under Brand 5 and 6, encompassing mid-level managers, and entry-level staff. They have been directed to work for a minimum of 10 days each month from office, effective from November 20, 2023.

These employees had been working remotely full-time since the onset of the pandemic.

Recently, Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy has suggested that Indian youngsters should work 70 hours a week.

Narayana Murthy stated, “If we want to compete with the fastest growing countries like China and Japan, we need to boost up our work productivity.”

“At the moment, India’s work productivity is very low. The government also must reduce the time it takes for decision-making and curb corruption in bureaucracy”, Narayana Murthy added.

The company has seen a dip of 7,530 in its headcount over the second quarter of FY24, taking the total headcount to 328,764.

Earlier, The company said that it is committed to maintaining flexibility for its workforce.

Additionally, Infosys to roll out wage hikes for employees from November 1. The company will skip campus hiring this year as it has a ‘way to go’ on utilization. However, it is monitoring the situation every quarter.

The announcement follows when Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) ended the hybrid work policy and asked its employees to work from the office 5 days a week from October 1, 2023, onwards.
