Global IT major Oracle has shifted its hiring strategy in India to focus on smaller cities, aiming to decentralize operations and build a presence in every state capital.
Speaking at the 24th ICT East event organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Kolkata, Sanjeev Chauhan, Vice President of Technology Solutions Engineering at Oracle India, confirmed the company’s renewed commitment to regional expansion.
“We are decentralizing our operations in India and opening more offices in small cities. We are also hiring more from tier-II and tier-III cities and giving flexibility to our employees to work from home, while offering them the same benefits,” Sanjeev said.
Longstanding Remote Work Culture Supports Expansion
Oracle’s work-from-home culture, in place for over two decades, has enabled the company to scale operations without disruption, even during the COVID-19 pandemic.
This flexibility is now being extended to new hires in smaller cities, allowing Oracle to tap into a broader talent pool while maintaining operational efficiency.
The company currently employs around 58,000 people across 50 offices in India.
Its Kolkata office alone houses approximately 600 employees, and similar expansions are expected in other regional hubs.
Strategic Goal: Offices in Every State Capital
Oracle’s goal is to establish a footprint in every state capital in India.
This move aligns with broader industry trends where global technology firms are increasingly investing in tier-II and tier-III cities to reduce costs, improve retention, and access untapped talent.
By decentralizing its operations, Oracle aims to reduce dependency on traditional tech hubs like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Pune, while contributing to regional economic development.
Oracle Hiring Across Technical and Non-Technical Roles
Oracle’s India careers portal currently lists over 450 job openings across domains such as software development, cloud infrastructure, finance, consulting, and quality assurance.
Oracle offers roles ranging from entry-level to senior positions and distributes them across cities including Gandhinagar, Kolkata, Chennai, Noida, and Hyderabad.
The company’s hiring process includes resume screening, HR interviews, technical assessments, and managerial rounds.
Compensation varies by role and experience, ranging from ₹6 lakh to ₹28 lakh per annum, according to Glassdoor estimates.
