Air India has put in place an ethics governance structure and is also establishing committees at the apex and regional levels.

The purpose of these committees is to bolster the ethics culture at the airline. These regional committees will be responsible for building a “positive ethics culture” through continuous engagement, communication, and ethics training.

Additionally, These regional committees will be supported by local ethics counsellors (LEC) and ethics champions in each region.

TATA group owned, Air India has appointed Gurjot Malhi as its Chief Ethics Counsellor from Vistara. Gurjot had set up a similar mechanism with Vistara.

According to the communication, Gurjot Malhi will be responsible to manage the ethics program and initiatives, enabling the engagement on values and ethics within Air India.

The airline committee has the mandate to formalize ethics-related guidelines and approve policies and procedures related to ethics. Also, the committee will be the final escalation point for the regional ethics committees.

Additionally, the apex ethics committee includes Air India Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Campbell Wilson as its head.

Followed by the airline’s Chief Ethics Counsellor, Chief Human Resources Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and Chief Operations Officer as its members.

Organizations with a strong ethics culture can motivate their employees as well as those associated with them to speak honestly and with integrity. This system in the airline will definitely help the airline strengthen the Airline’s ethics culture.
