According to reports, the Owner and CEO of Elon Musk sent Twitter employees an email at 2:30 am saying the “office is not optional”.

Zoë Schiffer Managing Editor at platformer has shared a series of tweets. One of the tweets said, “Elon Musk sent Twitter employees an email at 2:30 am saying the “office is not optional” and noting SF was half empty yesterday.”

This isn’t the first time Musk sent late-night a missive calling message to employees and calling back to headquarters. He sent a memo to Tesla employees about returning to the office saying, “Everyone at Tesla is required to spend a minimum of 40 hours in the office per week,” adding that more senior people should be more visible. Unfortunately, he didn’t account for the increased number of employees hired during the pandemic, and returning workers soon discovered there were not enough desks or parking spots for all.

Elon Musk frequently sends late-night emails announcing new company policies. Earlier In November, he first told Twitter employees said remote work will no longer be allowed and employees will be expected to be in the office for at least 40 hours per week, subject to exceptions by his approval.

Elon Musk emailed his workers to prepare them for “difficult times ahead.” He said there was “no way to sugarcoat the message” about the economic outlook and how it will affect an advertising-dependent company like Twitter.

However, Twitter is not the only tech company asking employees to report to the office recently Amazon asked employees to be in the office at least three days a week from May 1. The company informed the employees through Amazon’s blog, and chief executive Andy Jassy wrote the decision that was taken at a meeting.

Zoë Schiffer in another tweet said, “Elon Musk has not sent Twitter employees the “very significant” compensation awards he promised would be delivered today. People are not happy, to say the least.”

As earlier Elon Musk in a tweet informed, “Regarding Twitter’s reduction in force, unfortunately, there is no choice when the company is losing over $4M/day. Everyone exited was offered 3 months of severance, which is 50% more than legally required.”

The company has sacked several employees globally. Earlier, Twitter reportedly fired over 90% of the workforce in India which is nearly 200-plus staff in India over the weekend last year as part of the global restructuring exercise initiated by the company’s new owner Elon Musk.

After acquiring Twitter in a $44 Bn deal, Tesla boss Musk has initiated a complete overhaul of the company’s employee structure and business model. Just after taking ownership of the company, Musk fired Twitter’s top executives, including its CEO Parag Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal, and legal affairs and policy chief Vijaya Gadde.

Recently, Twitter has also shut two out of three Twitter India offices. The company has told its staff to work from home. The main focus is to shut down offices around the world as part of an effort to get Twitter financially stable by late 2023.

The company has closed its offices in the political center of New Delhi and the financial hub of Mumbai. The southern tech hub of Bengaluru mostly houses engineers and it will work as usual.
