Game publisher, Versus Evil shut down, entire team was laid off

Game publisher, Versus Evil has announced that the company will shut down leading to the layoff of the entire team.

indie games publisher has shared the information through the social media Platform X saying, “Today is a sad day. After 10 wonderful years, Versus Evil is shutting its doors.”

“We’ve loved bringing you the best indie games we could find & sharing so many happy memories with you all, our amazing community! From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU for everything!”, the post added.

One user said, “This is saddening to hear. I enjoyed my time as a Versus Evil Herald all the community managers were so helpful and friendly and the community was great! Sorry, this had to happen.”

“Yeah, I’m gonna miss the little motivational interactions we had this year. that was a good time and helped me keep my head in the game at times”, the post added.

In 2023, On the other hand, IT majors like; Snap, Microsoft, Twitter, TikTok, and Google have either laid off employees or frozen new hiring.

IT companies are already experiencing margin pressure due to inflation and impending recession in markets like the US and Europe, the biggest markets for the sector. 

Either layoff or hiring slowdown comes due to slow global economic growth caused by higher interest rates, and rising inflation.

So far in 2023, there have been 1,986 layoffs at tech companies with 427,110 people impacted (1,196 people per day).
