Microsoft has announced a series of key leadership appointments across India and South Asia to solidify its position in the rapidly evolving technology landscape and bolster its AI-first commitment in the region.

The announcement was made on April 24, 2025, during Microsoft’s 50-year milestone. It underscores the company’s commitment to strengthening India’s AI ecosystem.

Strategic Vision Behind the Appointments at Microsoft

Puneet Chandok, President of Microsoft India & South Asia, commented on the development.

He emphasized the vital role of the newly appointed leaders in advancing the company’s vision for growth and transformation.

He said, “Each of these leaders will strengthen our leadership bench with their deep functional depth and business acumen to our organization.”

Puneet highlighted Nitin Mittal’s extensive expertise in building digital platforms.

He also praised Himani Agrawal’s proven success in scaling operations and Aparna Kondaboina’s ability to drive cultural and talent-focused transformations.

He emphasized the significance of experienced women leaders in taking on strategic roles.

Microsoft Leadership Appointments

Nitin Mittal – Industry Leader, Digital Natives, India & South Asia Joining Microsoft with over 24 years of experience in sectors such as finance, retail, and e-commerce, Nitin Mittal brings a wealth of expertise in creating scalable digital platforms.

His previous leadership roles include Zee Entertainment, NPCI, UIDAI, and founding SOLV, a B2B platform for SMEs.

In his new role, Nitin plans to utilize his extensive experience to drive innovation. He also aims to develop inclusive, AI-powered platforms tailored for digital-native businesses.

Himani Agrawal – Chief Operating Officer (COO), Microsoft India & South Asia Elevated to COO, Himani Agrawal takes on the challenge of driving revenue growth through strategic innovation and business simplification.

She has over 25 years of experience in impactful leadership roles. Previously, she served as Chief Partner Officer and strengthened Microsoft’s extensive partner network.

Himani’s leadership will focus on aligning business goals and scaling AI and cloud solutions across diverse industries.

Aparna Kondaboina – Head of Human Resources, MCAPS, India and South Asia A seasoned HR leader with over 23 years of experience, Aparna Kondaboina has excelled in transforming organizations and fostering leadership capabilities.

Her previous role as HR leader for Microsoft India Development Centre showcased her ability to deliver exceptional HR strategies, expand operations, and build diverse engineering teams.

In her new position, Aparna will lead HR strategy for Microsoft’s commercial business division, promoting inclusion and driving high-performance teams.

These appointments align closely with Microsoft’s commitment to making India AI-first, placing AI tools in the hands of every sector, organization, and user.
