Philips Appoints Bharath Sesha as MD for the Indian Subcontinent

Philips, a global leader in health technology and innovation, has made a significant appointment—Bharath Sesha as the Managing Director for the Philips Indian subcontinent.

In this pivotal role, Bharath will drive Philips’ growth strategy in India. He will have a laser focus on enhancing customer satisfaction and achieving operational excellence.

New Role & Key Responsibilities at Philips

Healthcare Business Leadership: Bharath will oversee Philips’ Healthcare business headquartered in Gurgaon. His mandate includes driving growth, optimizing operations, and ensuring customer-centric solutions.

The Indian subcontinent represents a dynamic market, and Bharath’s leadership will be instrumental in navigating its complexities.

Licence to Operate in India: As part of his responsibilities, Bharath will manage Philips’ Licence to Operate in India. This encompasses critical assets such as the Philips Innovation Campus (PIC) in Bangalore. Also, the Healthcare Innovation Centre (HIC) in Pune, and Global Business Services (GBS) in Chennai.

These centers play a pivotal role in the company’s ecosystem, fostering innovation, research, and operational excellence.

Commenting on his new role, Bharath said, “I am thrilled to join Philips and contribute to our mission of improving healthcare accessibility and affordability in India.”

Bharath Sesha: A Seasoned Leader

Bharath Sesha, a seasoned leader with over two decades of global experience, steps into the role of Managing Director for the Philips Indian subcontinent.

His profound understanding of the Indian market, particularly within the pharmaceutical and chemical industries, positions him well for this critical responsibility.

Bharath ’s expertise spans strategic leadership, business development, and operational excellence—a combination that will undoubtedly shape Philips’ trajectory in the region.

Continuity and Transition

Bharath Sesha succeeds Daniel Mazon, who held the position of Vice Chairman and Managing Director for the the company’s Indian Subcontinent until April 1, 2024.

Daniel has since taken on a global role at the the company’s headquarters in the Netherlands. Bharath’s transition ensures continuity while infusing fresh perspectives into Philips’ strategic vision.
