Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Ltd. has announced the appointment of Ira Bindra as Group President for People, Leadership, and Talent.
At 47, she becomes the first non-family woman and the youngest member to join Reliance’s influential Executive Committee.
New Roles & Responsibilities at Reliance Industries
Ira joins Reliance from Medtronic USA, where she served as Head – Human Resources and VP of Global Regions.
She will be responsible for driving HR transformation across the organization.
In her new role, she will work closely with Mukesh Ambani and his children, Isha, Akash, and Anant.
She will also collaborate with the Executive Committee to implement cutting-edge HR and people development practices.
Mukesh emphasized that Ira’s appointment is aimed at pivoting people policies at the oil-to-telecom conglomerate.
Mukesh praised Ira’s expertise, stating, “Ira is a global HR and business leader with deep domain expertise across a range of industries, geographies, and business cycles.”
He added, “She will partner with all our business and HR leaders to build on our strong foundation, creating world-class HR and people development practices to further elevate Reliance’s global stature.”

Ira Bindra‘s Experience and Expertise
Ira brings extensive experience to Reliance, having worked with esteemed companies like GE Capital, GE India, GE Healthcare, and GE Oil & Gas before joining Medtronic in May 2018.
She has led large HR teams in Fortune 100 companies and has navigated organizations through significant business transformations.
Ira graduated from Delhi’s Lady Shri Ram College in 1998. She completed her MBA from the Maastricht School of Management in the Netherlands in 1999.
Her career spans leadership roles across complex geographies globally, including India, the United States, Asia, Europe, and Latin America.
