Air India reshuffles top management, appoints Suresh Tripathi as CHRO

The group chairman N Chandrasekaran has issued the order, according to which, Air India has reorganized the leadership roles.

  • Nipun Aggarwal has been appointed chief commercial officer while Suresh Tripathi will be chief human resources officer
  • Aggarwal replaces AI veteran Meenakshi Malik while Tripathi succeeds AI’s Amrita Sharan
  • Malik and Sharan will be advisers to Air India chairman Chandrasekaran

As per the changes, RS Sandhu and Vinod Hejmadi have been re-appointed as Chief of Operations and Chief Financial officer (CFO).

Additionally, Nipun Aggarwal, who is senior vice president – Tata Sons, has now been assigned the role of chief commercial officer, while Suresh Tripathi, who was VP- HR at Tata Steel till last year, is named as the new chief human resources officer.

Aggarwal, who is also Senior Vice President at Tata Sons, replaces Air India veteran Meenakshi Malik, while Tripathi, who was Vice President of Human Resources at Tata Steel from 2012 to 2021, succeeds AI’s Amrita Sharan.

Malik and Sharan were appointed as Advisors to the CEO of the aviation firm. As the Tata Group is yet to appoint the CEO of Air India, Malik and Sharan will currently be advisors to Chandrasekaran.

“The new appointees will exercise the powers of functional/departmental heads as per the delegation of authority. We wish them all the very best in their new role,” Chandrasekaran stated in the order.

The role of head – customer experience and ground handling has been assigned to Rajesh Dogra. Senior IAS officer, Vikram Dev Dutt, who was CMD, Air India, till the takeover happened, is now CMD of Air India Asset Holding (AIAHL).

Satya Ramaswamy, who was earlier associated with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), is now the chief digital and technology officer of this aviation firm. With PTI Inputs
