Apple has announced that its employee count has reached 164,000 full-time employees worldwide as of late September 2024.

This marks a significant increase from the 161,000 employees reported in 2023, bringing the company’s workforce back to the same level as in 2022.

Despite facing several rounds of smaller-scale layoffs throughout the year, Apple has managed to grow its employee base.

Growth and Diversity at Apple Amid Layoffs

Apple’s workforce growth in 2024 comes despite the company conducting four rounds of small-scale layoffs.

These layoffs were primarily due to the cancellation of its long-running electric vehicle project, relocation of a Siri evaluation team from San Diego to Austin, Texas, and cuts in its Apple Books and Apple News teams.

Despite these reductions, Apple has avoided the large-scale layoffs seen at other tech companies like Google and Microsoft.

The 164,000 employees include both corporate employees, such as software engineers, and retail employees working at Apple stores around the globe.

Apple’s workforce is spread across various regions, including the Americas, Europe, Greater China, Japan, and the Rest of Asia Pacific.

This diverse and global presence allows Apple to better align with the unique market dynamics of each geographic region.

Strategic Initiatives

Apple’s growth in employee count is a testament to its strategic initiatives and continued innovation.

The company has been focusing on expanding its product lines, enhancing its services, and investing in new technologies.

These efforts have contributed to Apple’s strong financial performance and its ability to attract and retain top talent.

As Apple heads into 2025, the company is on a positive trajectory with its employee count at an all-time high and quarterly revenues in record territory.

The company’s commitment to innovation and excellence continues to drive its success, making it a leader in the tech industry.
