Since the financial year 2019-20, over 42,000 job fairs have been organized, resulting in more than 18.4 lakh job seekers being shortlisted for various positions.
This initiative has played a crucial role in connecting job seekers with potential employers and addressing the issue of unemployment.
The job fairs, held across various states and regions, have witnessed massive participation from both job seekers and employers.
The Centre has collaborated with numerous industry partners, educational institutions, and government agencies to ensure the success of these events.
The job fairs have provided a platform for job seekers to explore a wide range of opportunities, from entry-level positions to specialized roles in different sectors.
Role of NSDC and Other Agencies in Conducting Job Fairs
National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) has been at the forefront of organizing these job fairs, working closely with other government agencies and industry partners.
NSDC’s efforts have been instrumental in creating a robust skilling ecosystem that aligns with the needs of the job market.
The job fairs have been strategically designed to match the skills of job seekers with the requirements of employers, thereby enhancing employability and workforce readiness.
The job fairs have had a profound impact on employment, particularly in regions with high unemployment rates.
By bringing job opportunities directly to the communities, the Centre has been able to reach a large number of job seekers.
These job seekers might not have had access to such opportunities otherwise.
The initiative has also focused on promoting inclusive growth by ensuring that candidates from socio-economically disadvantaged groups and women have equal access to job opportunities.
Skilling and Training Initiatives: Support from Digital Platforms
In addition to job placement, the job fairs have also emphasized the importance of skilling and training.
Candidates have had the opportunity to enroll in various skill development programs offered by NSDC and its partners.
These programs are designed to equip candidates with industry-relevant skills and certifications, making them more competitive in the job market.
NSDC has also collaborated with premium institutions to offer micro-credential programs, providing specialized training in emerging technologies.
Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH) has played a significant role in supporting the job fairs by providing a digital platform for candidates to register and apply for jobs.
SIDH platform has reached 1.30 crore candidates, including 92 lakh short-term trained candidates, 86 lakh certified candidates, and 13 lakh apprentices.
The platform supports more than 7,100 courses in 23 Indian languages, reinforcing its role in skilling and training.
Job Fairs in India: Testimonials and Success Stories
Numerous success stories have emerged from the recruitment events, with candidates sharing their experiences of securing employment through these events.
Many have highlighted the role of the job fairs in providing a platform to showcase their skills and connect with potential employers.
Employers, too, have expressed their satisfaction with the quality of candidates they have hired through these initiatives.
Looking ahead, the Centre plans to continue organizing job fairs and expanding its reach to more regions.
NSDC aims to establish 50 new Future Skills Centres and 10 NSDC International Academies to further enhance skill development and training programs.
The goal is to train over 200,000 candidates and establish over 270,000 square feet of training infrastructure.
