EPFO: Benefits payable to widows, widowers & children under EPS’95

There are several schemes under the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation. Under this scheme, EPFO announces benefits payable to children, widows & widowers under EPS’95.

The EPFO shared in a Tweet the benefits payable to the widow/ widowers and children under this particular scheme.  In case of any query, the members can log in to the official website epfindia.gov.in.

The benefits payable to the widow/ widower are as follows:

1) In case, a member dies while in service, the widow or widower is entitled for a monthly pension of Rs 1000.

2) In case of death of the pensioner, the pension to his or her widow or widower is 50 per cent of the pension.

The benefits available for the children under EPS ’95 scheme are as follows:

1) Pension amount is 25 per cent of monthly widow/widower pension, for each child at a time, subject to maximum 2 children at a time.

2) The pension will be payable for two children at a time, till 25 years of age.

Earlier, The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation had also warned its members not to share critical details about their EPF account, personal information, or OTP over the phone or online. It had announced this due to the growing threat of EPF-related OTP scams and other issues, also to minimize fraud.

They also warned by saying, “EPFO never asks its members to share their personal details like Aadhaar, PAN, UAN, Bank Account or OTP over the phone or on social media.”

EPF members should not share personal information like their Aadhaar card number, PAN, bank account number, or UAN number with anybody on WhatsApp or social media, according to the EPFO advice, because they risk losing their money. 

EPFO has also informed to be “ALERT Beware of Fraudsters!” to alert members to the danger they may be facing. In case of any query, the EPFO members can login to the official website of EPFO at epfindia.gov.in.
